There are 3 main things to know in cell theory:
1-All cells come from other pre-existing cells
2-Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in organisms
3-All living beings are made of cells

Robert Hooke and Anton van Leeuwenhoek contributed to the discovery of cells itself.
In 1665, Hooke looked at cork slices under a microscope and termed the boxes he saw "cells" In 1674, Leeuwenhoek perfected the microscope. He looked at pond water and wooden teeth and found bacteria on them, terming them "animalcules" Matthias Schleiden was a German botanist who concluded that all plants were made of cells in 1838.
Theodor Schwann made a similar discovery in 1839 as a zoologist when he concluded that all animals were made of cells. Rudolph Virchow stated that all cells came from other cells in 1855 after studying eggs. Picture Sources-

Many different scientists and people helped contribute to cell research, but those that contributed to cell theory itself were Matthias Schleiden,Theodor Schwann and Rudolph Virchow.
